Past, Present and Future
Three figures representing the past, present and future of Shoreditch rise high over the former artists’ district, home now to only a handful of artists. The first figure looks longingly back on Old Street where artists once thrived, the second peers out at the encroaching billboards, uncertain of how long the few remaining artists can afford to stay, the third teeters precariously, to succeed or move on is yet to be seen. This mural is intermittently obscured by an advertising hoarding and is visible only on certain weeks of the year.
Deconstruction
From the disappearance of public artworks to cuts in the public sector, our culture is being deconstructed brick by brick. It is up to us to defend culture from those who only understand money.

Union
In 1882 Union Square was the site of the first Labour Day. The eight figures surrounding the water tower represent the victory of the eight hour working day the rally achieved and the other countries that celebrate International Workers day.

Utsira
These two giant figures represent the 200 inhabitants of the island of Utsira who have all the electricity they need from these two wind turbines.

Liberty
Liberty is a power salute in recognition of the radical history of Tompkins Square. The park has been a platform for activists since the 1874 workers riots and the more recent 1988 housing riots.

Oil Recycling Plant
The four tanks clean impurities out of reclaimed oil so it can be re-used. The giant figures walk round and round endlessly echoing the recycling process.
